Problem reading the eeprom NEED HELP

It already happened to me few times that while I was trying to read the eeprom ( for example 93c56) I wasn't able to access it because it was covered with some kind of manufacturer's rubber. How can I remove this rubber without damaging eeprom ? Without this I cannot read eeprom .Any help appreciated

If I understand you well you are referring to short-circuiting material which is used to prevent CMOS damage during transport, right? So why not simply remove it, huh?
